Chapter 114: Theo's past!
Chapter 114: Theo\'s past!
Theo heard the words of the peerless beauty that could cause the downfall of many kingdoms with her smile and thought about it deeply.
“Afraid? Am I afraid?”
“Yes, I am afraid! I’m afraid that the ones who destroyed our world might track me down to this world. I fear that our years of hard work and planning might go down the drain. I’m afraid that the resistance might lose the upcoming war. Forget about revenge and the revival of our world. I’m afraid that we won’t be able to save even planet Earth. I’m afraid that I will die before fulfilling any of my responsibilities. I’m afraid of a lot of things, high-elf.”
Theo admitted his fears while looking into her eyes. The peacefulness of this city had blinded him for some time, but how could he ever forget the horror of that race, the one that destroyed his world? The screeches of his kind still haunt his mind to this very day, making him feel fear.
Lady Temperance could determine that.
She sighed, not because she was trouble that the boy was full of fear, but because of his pitiful destiny.
She turned her back towards him and opened a silver fan to cover her face before saying, “Admitting one’s fear isn’t a choice an arrogant man can make. Fearing that day and that race isn’t something to be ashamed of, either. However, tell me, will you resist your fears if they come to stomp you?”
Hearing her words reminded him of the past; the time when he was hovering at the gate of death; the moment in which the Mother Tree saved him; the memories in which she blessed him with powers desirable even by the king of that race. On that night, after escaping his world and standing under the violent rain and thundering storm, he made a promise, a promise engraved with his will to live.
“When she entrusted me with the eyes that can take from all life and give to all life, I promised that I would fight till my last breath. Even if they shatter all the bones in my limbs, I will use my mouth to crawl across the ground and fight against them. I won’t stop until they stomp all traces of life out of me!”
Theo’s stance showed his resolution at the moment. One look at it told her why the Mother Tree had chosen him as her last hope of revival.
Temperance inclined her face to glimpse at him, giving him a look of approval. “I have never doubter her until she gave her powers to a half-blooded like you. Everyone knew I was the best choice. Even I thought so. Except for the sage, everyone was against you. It looks like we were wrong. The Mother Tree made the right choice to choose as the carrier of the source that will lead to the revival of our world.”
Theo’s head lowered in disappointment. While looking at the white tiles, he said, “Sometimes I doubt myself when thinking, whether I am capable of it or not. Honestly, with the way I am right now, having found no safe way to advance to the next stage for the past ten years, I believe the mother tree made the wrong choice.”
“Who said there’s no way?” Lady Temperance suddenly said, and Theo raised his head to look at her in shock.
“What do you mean?”
“The burden isn’t for you alone to carry.” Lady Temperance said before she raised her soft, milky white palm with slender jade-like feminine fingers towards him. A blue seed with a lot of golden lines magically appeared in the center of her palm. “Here’s a magic parasol seed. Swallow it before opening your energy channel. It will take root in your body and act as a blocker, nullifying the effects of the trackers. It also has many other beneficial effects. The one most noteworthy is the fact that you will be able to determine where the entrance to your energy channels is in your body.”
“Really?”
“Really?”
“You mean it?”
“Yes!”
After his mind swallowed her words, his eyes brightened in happiness. For the past ten years, he didn’t dare to open up his energy channels, afraid that the trackers placed inside his body by the member of that race would be able to send his location to them, that they would come from him and take him away to produce the melody of cruelty out of his body. But now, he no longer needed to suppress himself!
“Please say my thanks to the sage.”
Right after saying those words, Theo happily picked the seed up to his mouth, opened his lips, and swallowed it. It went down his throat, and after reaching his navel, it released a few golden threads, and those threads directly wounded around his sealed energy channels.
“What?”
Theo suddenly felt a large amount of information being dumped on his mind, becoming a part of his memories. In an instant, he realized that the moment he opens up his energy channel, the threads would enter it and wrap around the tracker inside of his first energy channel, sealing them immediately.
“It took a lot for the sage to get it for you! I hope you will live up to his expectations.” Lady Temperance said.
“I will do my best to live up to his expectations.”
Now, Theo could open his energy channels without worrying about bringing destruction to the world. That means he could increase his strength without suppressing himself. At the mere age of ten, he was already at the peak of the magical realm. With this point alone, one could see that his talent and potential were haven defying.
“We do not doubt that you can become someone as strong as the sage. But haste makes waste. Remember to nourish your energy channel properly before opening the next one.” Lady Temperance said with the grace of a master.
“High-Elf, I will remember your words,” Theo replied with the sweetness of a student.
