Chapter 158: Coming across humans
Chapter 158: Coming across humans
“Roar!”
“Gah!”
“Ahh!”
As he looked over in the direction of the roars that sounded near him, a gust of wind carrying the fragrance of blood blew against his face, making him realize that a fight to the death was happening near him.
He moved his face away, ignoring it as he had no intention of wasting his time in this place, and then he continued on his path, charging towards the lush valley at a distance.
“Master, wait a moment,” suddenly, the horrifying mandrake asked him to come to a halt.
Though when It said those words, he was in mid-air. However, as things sounded urgent, he took a plunge and landed on top of a tree.
“You better have a good reason for asking me to stop,” Elliot said, a threatening look vivid in his eyes.
“I sense some humans fighting against a pack of nightmare beasts!” While saying those words, the horrifying mandrake came out of his shirt and looked over in a particular direction. Its glare was icy cold as if it had seen its worst enemies.
Elliot, too, glanced in the same direction. His sight and hearing were a lot stronger than magicians in the channel opening stage, and thus, he managed to grasp a lot of things even in the deep darkness of the night.
He saw nine people fighting 4-meter tall and 2-meter wide panthers in a clearing not too far ahead. The nine of them had wounds on many parts of their bodies, and their clothes were also in tatters, making them appear quite miserable.
As luck would have it, one of them was Oliver Charlotte, and the two beside him were magicians from the Regis Family!
He lost all intentions of helping them out the moment he saw that three of them were people he didn’t like at all.
“Master, are we not going to help them?” His slave asked.
Instead of answering him, Elliot raised a question of his own. “You want to help those humans? Is that some kind of joke?”
“Not really,”
“Do you have some kind of grudge with the nightmare panthers?” He said, looking at it with eyes narrowed in suspicions.
The horrifying nightmare nodded its head, signifying that its master had hit the mark!
“Oh, tell me about it,” Elliot said, a curious look on his face.
“They once attacked me, severely harming me. It took me a hundred years to recover from those wounds. Honestly, if you kill them, I will serve you with all my heart.” It said, revealing the reason why it wanted them dead and why it hated them so much.
Elliot raised his hand, expressing that he would take action later.
“Let them exhaust and wound each other to the brink of death. I will kill whoever remains alive.” Elliot said, sitting down on the tree and looking at how the humans desperately fended off the vicious beasts, again and again, occasionally injuring them in the process.
The only thing he was missing right now were honestly popcorns.
Furthermore, since he had nothing to keep his mouth busy, he decided to make fun of others.
“Mister knight in shining armor and two assholes of the Regis family, you guys are going to die if you don’t make a run for it, you know? How about you call it quits and return home to drink your momma’s milk?” He said in a loud, taunting voice. Only then did they realized that someone was watching them from a tree far away.
Instant of barking at him, they focused on fighting the panthers.
All of them were battle-hardened experts and didn’t lose focus even though they heard his ridiculing words. After all, losing focus in a life-and-death battle meant death!
“You damn bastard! Have a taste of my hammer!”
One of them swung his gigantic sand hammer and smashed it on the chest of the nightmare phantom that leaped towards the healer behind him. The panther was pushed backward by several meters. But now it was angry. It roared as it circled them along with many others.
“Our life-saving treasures aren’t working,” a female with blue hair shouted out loud, hoping that her voice had reached the man far away.
It surely did, but Elliot had no intention of replying to her.
“If you have any way of helping us, please step forward.” Another one of the nine humans, a bald man with big muscles said, hoping that whoever it was that taunted them had a way of helping them out of their sticky situation.
Instead of stepping forward, some of them with sharp eyes saw him leaning backward with his hands behind his head. He was acting as if he was going to fall asleep.
After seeing that, Oliver Charlotte scoffed, “What is the use of asking help from that person? Is it too dark that you failed to see his face? He is Elliot, the person representing the academy. He is too weak to help us. Besides, my death would benefit him the most. So there’s no way that he is going to help us!”
The other realized that it was Elliot and immediately lost all interest in asking him to help them. How could someone in the magical realm even help them? Instead of him helping them, it would be more like them helping him.
Elliot didn’t retort and merely smirked at their ignorance.
“Master, do these guys have a few screws loose in their head? How come they are calling someone as mighty as you weak?” The horrifying nightmare said as it was unable to understand the retarded attitude of the humans in the center of the clearing.
“Well, it’s nothing new.” Elliot said ever so lazily, “They misjudged me just like you did a while ago.”
“At that time, I was still sleepy and failed to realize Mt. Tai. Hahaha!” The horrifying nightmare laughed to hide its embarrassment.
Whoosh!
Meanwhile, four nightmare panthers jumped at Oliver and the eight people near him. Not only were they extremely big, but their fur was blood-red in color, and their scar-covered flesh had several eyes on them. Some eyes had pus leaking out of them while the others didn’t. All in all, they looked disgusting, appearing true to their names!
“Barrier of Light!” Before the panthers could harm even a single of them, a pleasant voice sounded in the air, and then a holy shield erected around them.
The panthers crashed on the shield, kissing it face-first as they slid down to the ground.
Failing, again and again, to rip apart their preys and feasts on them, the anger of the panthers reached another level.
“Awo!” One of them commanded everyone to attack the shield and break it at all cost.
Bam! Bam! Bam!
Many nightmare panthers roared at the top of their lungs, then rushed towards the shield and pounded their backs on it, trying to break it using savage and self-harming means.
